To mark the 72nd anniversary of Hanoi’s Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2026), the city is hosting a series of cultural, artistic and tourism events throughout early October. Events to Explore in Hanoi Around October 10
Hanoi Beverage Festival 2026 | October 9–11
Held at Astronomy Park, the festival brings together food and beverage experiences, adding another lively stop to Hanoi’s October event calendar.
Two Major Performances at Ho Guom Opera | October 9–10
Ho Guom Opera will host two major artistic programmes over October 9 and 10. The highlight on October 10 is “Hanoi Symphony”, a performance that tells the story of the capital’s history, culture and transformation through music and performing arts.
“80 Years – The Enduring Heroic Song of Hanoi” | October 10
Held at Ba Kieu Temple Garden, the programme commemorates the 80th anniversary of the Hanoi Capital Armed Forces. Located beside Hoan Kiem Lake, it can easily be included in an evening exploring the heart of the city.
Traditional Theatre and Performing Arts | October 9–10
A series of traditional performances will bring chèo, cải lương and Vietnamese theatre closer to the public, featuring works including “The Legend of Hoan Kiem Lake”, “The Charm of Hanoi Chèo”, “Quan Am Thi Kinh” and “The Hanoi Girl”.
Performances will take place at Ba Kieu Temple Garden and other locations across the city.
55 Public Film Screenings
Hanoi will host 40 mobile film screenings across local neighbourhoods and communities, along with 15 screenings at cinemas, extending the city’s cultural programme beyond the central districts.
72 Journeys to Discover Hanoi
Marking 72 years since Capital Liberation Day, the city is introducing 72 journeys to explore Hanoi, connecting history, heritage, architecture, traditional craft villages, cuisine and creative spaces.
The smart tourism platform HanoiGo is also being introduced to help visitors discover destinations, heritage sites, craft villages and experiences across the capital.
“The Roots of Heritage in the Heart of the Capital” | October 9–11
Held at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, the programme features activities celebrating cultural roots, traditional heritage and the diverse identities of Vietnam’s ethnic communities.
Fireworks at West Lake and Hoan Kiem Lake | 9:00 PM, October 10
One of the biggest highlights of October 10 will be the fireworks displays over West Lake and Hoan Kiem Lake.
Around 1,250 fireworks units will be arranged across the two locations, with approximately 900 at West Lake and 350 at Hoan Kiem Lake. The displays are expected to last 15 minutes, beginning at 9:00 PM.
