In Vietnam, we call " bít tết" means "beefsteak" and in Hanoi, "bánh mì bít tết" is so popular that there is even a famous street dedicated to selling this dish, with numerous food stalls clustered together. Vietnamese people have transformed this sophisticated dish into something more rustic and familiar. Unlike the European-style bít tết served in elegant, intricately decorated restaurants, the Vietnamese version is more down-to-earth and hearty. Everything from the beef, sauce, to the potatoes or bread is sufficient to satisfy both in terms of flavor and portion.
